Aravind Ackroyd Ghose, more well-known like Sri Aurobindo, it is one of the great
spiritual masters of the humanity's his-tory. Sri Aurobindo, was born on August 15, 1872, in India, and
he died on December 5, 1950. When he was 7 years old he was a correspondent England to study and India
only ca-me back to the 21 years old. Ele he wrapped up in to inten-se political
activities, and in 1907 it was leader of Partido Na-cionalista. At the same time, he was devoted
to write poe-tries and to study sanskrit and bengali.
In 1904 he began to practice yoga, and in 1908, it was begun by Yogi Vishnu Baskar
Lele in the meditation technique. Sri Aurobindo had intense mystic experiences that made it to see
with an incredible intensity, everyone as a film. That ex-perience brought it an inexplicable peace,
a great silence and infinite freedom. On that moment it began to appear what la-ter it would be
known as Purna Yoga or Integral yoga. After these experiences, Sri Lanka Aurobindo retaked its work
and political participation, but now with its interior completely changed.
In 1908, Sri Aurobindo was arrested due to its participation in the revolutionary
movement for the independence of India. In the prison it continued with its yoga practices and
extraordi-nary mystic experiences. After one year in the prison was

freed, and with a new vision of the life produced by its mystic experiences, no longer he wanted to
free India, but all the humanity. With this objective it began to publish two newspapers, one in
English, Karma Yogin, and another in Bengali, Dharma.
In 1910, following an interior voice moved for Pondicherry, to the
south of India, standing back definitively of its previous life. In 1914, it happened a very
special event: the first encounter between Sri Aurobindo and the French Mirra Richad, that later
would be known as the Mother. But only in 1920, it is that Mirra moves for Pondicherry to drive
Sri Aurobindo's activities, so that him it could concentrate all its energy to carry out their
spiritual work that had to do.
On November 24, 1924 is founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, a spiritual
community formed initially by 24 disciples.
After the death of Sri Aurobindo, in 1950, the Mother continued the work of great spiritual
magnitude initiated by him. On February 28, 1968, she founded Auroville, an international city to the
outskirts of Pondicherry, with the aim of achieving the unity human.
Purna Yoga philosophy or Yoga
Integral created by Sri Aurobindo consist of the human being
transfor-mation to reach the divine accomplishment in the daily life.
Sri Aurobindo had as pupil and
its successor the Mirra Alfassa, more known as the " Mother ", that it
hel-ped in the construction of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, in 1926, of the
International Center of Education, in 1951, of the city of Auroville, in
Pondicherry, 1968.

In Brazil, the Integral Yoga
was introduced in 1971 by Rolf Gelewski, German dancer. Initially, Rolf
came to Brazil in 1960 to teach dance at the Federal University of
Bahia, and in 1968 had contact in India with Sri Aurobindo. In 1971
lived in community with a group of young people in Salvador, Bahia, then
emerged the House of Sri Aurobindo. After 1980, the community ceases to
exist and becomes a free community con-sists of employees.
After the death of Mother in
1973, the ideals of Sri Aurobindo continued to inspire people throughout
the world. Currently, in Brazil, there are different centres of Integral
Yoga independent who follow the ideals of Sri Aurobindo. Taunay Valle
disclose the Integral Yoga teachers form since 1991, and founded in
2001, in Porto Alegre, the purna Yoga Ashram. As Rolf Gelewski, Taunay
uses the art as a form of expression of the divine, but rather of dance,
Taunay draws and paints.
