Nothing knows as it appeared, who was its creator. We just know that the origin of Yoga repairs to the prehistoric period, and most of the books affirms that it appeared in India about 3.000 years a.C, and its creator is Shiva. However, archaeological discoveries, in 1952, check that the origin of Yoga is European, approximately of 10.000 to 15.000 years B.C. In the grotto of Addaura, in Sícilia, Italy was discovered drawings with postures of Yoga. Several millennia then, Yoga would have been taken to India by the Mediterranean people (drávidas) and it was conserved even today as we met him. Fortunately, because if it depended on the western culture, it would already have missing person there is a long time.

That, India is considered the Earth of Yoga, in the same way that Brazil is the Earth of the Soccer, and the soccer was born in England.

The goal of Yoga is the samadhi.
Samadhi means a state of spiritual ecstasy.
While in the traditional yoga (Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, etc.) this is the final goal, for Integral Yoga this is the first step. Sri Aurobindo's Integral Yoga doesn't try to turn this state of spiritual accomplishment far away from the terrestrial life, in an individual scale, but in a transformation of the conscience of everybody for the gone down of the Divine. Each experience with the external world, be that important or trivial, be addressed for the Divine and become in a step for the perfection.

Hinduist

Tibetan Buddhism

OM is considered the mantra of the mantras. In agreement with the Indian Tradition everything in the universe emanates of the primordial vibration of OM. In Latin " omni " it means everything, universal, and that Latin root is present in several words of our Portuguese language, for example: omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, among another.

The repetition of the mantra OM induces an introvertion state, of indescribable interior harmony.

Is Yoga religion?

It is a great mistake to consider that yoga is a religion form. Yoga arrived to the impregnated occident of Hinduism, that, a lot of people believe that yoga is a Hinduist religion. To Indian, every religion is a type of yoga. In India, so much the Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism practices yoga. Like this any person, independent of its religion, its can practice yoga and to benefit of its practice. In fact, to practice yoga it is not necessary to believe in God, because yoga is not a subject of faith in certain dogmas, but amplification of the conscience to in an universal plan.

The evangelical ones condemn the practice of the yoga, in spite of its healthy effects, because they are afraid of they lose its followerses. The practice of the yoga does that the apprentice has more discernment and it doesn't let to manipulate and to explore economically.

Is Yoga Physical Education?

Yoga uses the body as a middle, not as an end. The corporal postures of Yoga (asanas) they are attitudes, opportunities of spiritual expression. This way, to do yoga as mere physical activity is not yoga.

In Brazil, the Federal Council of Physical Education - CONFEF tries to reduce the yoga as a physical activity cannot to supervise and to do that the yoga professionals register in its Regional Council. That is a true aberration and its reveals the attempt of usurping a milenar culture..

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), in 2003, the Federal Public Ministry granted preliminary in favor of Yoga, Martial Arts and it Dances, so that the Regional Council of Physical Education it refrains to supervise or to intervene in those areas. In fact, a direct action exists in the Supreme Federal Tribunal of unconstitutional of the Law 9696/98 that regulated the creation of the Federal Council of Physical Education in Brazil.
